The recipe I saw on Pinterest included a guide for making the sugar cookies, but I was under the wire and missing a few ingredients, so I grabbed my last bag of sugar cookie mix and got to baking. For these cookies you will need parchment paper to freeze the nutella on, and to line your cookie sheets.
First: Using a teaspoon, spoon the nutella onto the parchment – I ended up using approximately 1/2 a cup and it made 12 dollops of nutella. Throw it into the freezer for around 15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
Into the mixer I threw the cookie mix, 1/2 a cup of room temperature butter, 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of of all-purpose flour. I then mixed it together for approximately 3 minutes. Until it formed a nice dough.
All frozen… they defrost quickly, so I ended up doing six, then putting the tray back in the freezer. Using a small metal spatula, makes getting the nutella off the parchment paper a lot easier.
Using about 1tbsp of dough, roll a ball, then flatten them in your palms. Place a still frozen nutella ball in the middle of the flattened dough.
Using another tablespoon of dough, make ball and flatten it out and cover over the nutella, making sure to put the dough all around so there are no spaces or areas the nutella can escape through. Bake them in a 350 degree oven for about 10 to 14 minutes, making sure to turn the tray half way through the baking to ensure even colouring.
Let them cool for 10 minutes on the tray and then transfer to a rack. Then enjoy… with some milk. I didn’t get to do that… my girl’s practically inhaled them!!
